DC808 - Survey Results

Aloha folks!

Thank you so much to those that answered the survey - your input is valuable.

We had 19 people respond, and here’s the data:

Question 1: What sort of gatherings are you most interested in?

It’s clear that we want technical/topical gatherings, but the amount of folks that are interested in attending social/informal gatherings is a bit of a surprise to me. My takeaway is we can ramp up with something informal at first, and when we can secure a speaker for a technical or topical subject, we’ll do that. Good stuff so far!

Question 2: Where are you most likely to participate in gatherings?

Co-working spaces are the most comfortable, with private businesses, restaurants, and bars close to evenly spread, and the others as lesser options. These results are good - this shows we can be flexible with where/how we hold gatherings. I do note that virtual is towards the bottom - point taken =)

Question 3: How would you like to be kept informed of DC808 gatherings/events?

I should have included a Discord option in this question - my bad! These results are clear though, of the options given, email and the web site are the most valuable. My takeaways are we need to find a mailing list solution, for which I have a question out to a friend, and will prioritize communications via the list and web site, with the others as best-effort.

The Discord server has been built out, but I’m still tightening things up (roles, etc.) If you want to jump on, let me know in whichever way works best for you and I’ll get an invite link to you. I found posting invitation links publicly results in bots and spam - who could have guessed haha. The server is currently invite-only, but this may be opened up to application or discovery in the future.
