DC808 2025 Q3 Gathering

Aloha DC808 peeps!

Our first gathering after coming out of hibernation will be September 25th 5pm-7pm at The Social in the Ward area: 1170 Auahi Street, Suite 250
Honolulu, HI 96814

Park in the big TJ Maxx parking lot and go to the second floor.

This will mostly be a social gathering, meeting up with old hacker friends and colleagues, making new ones, and talking story about the latest and greatest while hammahing down the pupus and drinks. I’ll provide some pupus, but you’re on your own for the drinks! We’ll be starting midway through their happy hour (between 4-6pm,) so if you want the cheaper grinds, come early.

While mostly social, I will have an agenda to follow but it’ll be loose, with an update on the group after the DCG board’s changes and further building DC808. We can start planning our next gathering as well.

On Thursday 9/25/25 we met up with some old hacker friends and made some new ones at The Social. Not everything was perfect :shockedpikachuface: so I want to solicit your thoughts at this survey.

Here are my thoughts on the venue:

Good

1. Plenty of parking
2. Food/drink
3. Ac

1. PoC was one late buggah
2. Too noisy
3. No wifi
4. No power at the tables we were at

We had some solid discussions around things the group can do such as CTFs, mentoring, industry events, etc., and had conversations around AI and its impact on hacking and information security, identity security, the jobs that are out there and how crazy this market is, and so much more. Also, there was beer and pupus.

We’re now planning for our next gathering, probably in December. Please respond to the survey above with your thoughts, concerns, existential crises, etc. when you can, and we’ll get cracking on planning something.
